Who Should Pay to Fix Our Economy?

The Association of Washington Business (the powerful statewide chamber of commerce) is hosting their annual policy summit at Suncadia, a secluded mountain resort outside of Cle Elum. Their plan? Set the corporate agenda for Olympia.

Why weren’t we invited to the party? While wealthy CEO’s are attending golf tournaments and wine tastings, middle class and low income families are struggling to make ends meet.

Washington residents from all over the state will join forces on Tuesday, September 20th and Wednesday, September 21st to show members of the AWB what the people have to say. Corporate interests have been ruling Olympia and our country long enough. Showdown at Suncadia will allow us to confront corporate greed head-on.

In addition to a golf tournament and wine tasting, the agenda also features workshops entitled “Where Will the Money Come From?” (led by Phyllis Campbell, the Northwest Regional Director of Chase Bank) and “What are Americans Thinking?” (just our two personal favorites), as well as a keynote speech by Governor Gregoire.

You want to know what Americans are thinking? We’ll tell you loud and clear at Showdown at Suncadia!

I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT THERE ARE SOME POSTERS PREPARED THAT PUT OUT THERE THE INFO IN A CLEAR WAY ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY THE CEO’S ARE MAKING…. FOR EXAMPLE, CEO OF MULTICARE IN TACOMA HOLDS A MASTER’S DEGREE AND EARNED $8,000,000 IN 2009. HOW ABOUT A POSTER SHOWING HOW MUCH MONEY THAT IS PER HOUR?

      Hi Caroline,

That’s a great idea!! We’ll be working to make posters over the next week or so, I can be sure to mention that idea to people. Also, we’re definitely encouraging people who are so inclined to make/bring their own posters to Suncadia! So feel free to do some research and highlight whatever you’d like! We’ll most likely be having a poster-making party sometime before the event, send me an email (rachaeldecruz@washingtoncan.org) if you’d like to join!

$3,846.15 per hour IF that CEO worked 40 hours / week – every week of the year. I have a Master’s Degree, work 40 hours per week, and earn that much PER MONTH.

Part of the problem with our state is the fact that King, Snohomish and Pierce county voted the corrupt goverament back into office for another 4 years.
